Flowers The altar flowers this weekend are given to the glory of God in honor of Adelaide Nelson on her first birthday by Liz, Tom, Alexandra and Tommy Nelson. Special Prayer Opportunities During Lent During Lent the Stations of the Cross will be prayed every Friday evening beginning at 7PM. Also there are weekly Ecumenical Noon Prayer Services during Lent. Please see this week’s bulletin for the schedule of these prayer services. St. Mary’s will be hosting the service on March 3rd. Scripture Study The Gospel of Luke. Tuesday, Feb. 16th, 10:30AM, in the Social Hall. This week: Chapter 9 & 10.

First Reconciliation Please keep these young people in your prayers as they prepare to make their First Reconciliation on Saturday, February 27. Rachel Babcock, Melanie Bellavance, Bradley Bido, Hannah Bolanos, Ann Collick, Simon Dowd, Christabelle Elliott, Joshua Graf, Cullen Griffin, Mary Hatcher, Matthew Hatcher, Gage McLeod, Karina Naccarato, Madeline Rawlings, Isabella Thompson, and Quintin Walters. – Joan Nagy, CRE Lenten Fish Fries The Knights of Columbus will have a Fish Fry on Friday, March 12th and March 26th in the Social Hall, from 11AM-1PM and from 4-7 PM. You may eat in or carry out. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 years and younger. Menu includes fried fish, baked beans, hush puppies, and cole slaw, with fish sticks and French fries for children. Tickets may be purchased before and after Masses from the Knights.
Parish Council Nominations The Parish Council Nominating Committee will begin the nomination process for electing three new Council members. Parish Council members whose terms are expiring this year are Mike Bibbo, Kathy McIntosh and Marvin Spring. Nominations will be accepted on Feb. 13/14 and Feb. 20/21. Parishioners are asked to nominate themselves or others who meet the following criteria: Candidates must be active, registered for at least one year, and a confirmed member of the parish in good standing with the Catholic Church. Elections will be held March 20/21. We hope you will seriously consider serving on St. Mary’s Parish Council. Thank you!
Altar Flowers Please remember your loved ones with a donation of flowers for the altar. Birthdays, wedding anniversaries and anniversaries of deaths are just some of the occasions to remember them. Beginning last month, we will only have altar flowers when someone donates them. The cost is $40. Please contact Frances Bouton, 925-4656, angelbike2@charter.net, for more info and to check which dates are available. (There are no flowers in lent or advent.) Now is a good time to reserve your weekend. After confirming your date, checks should be made out to St. Mary’s with ‘Altar Flowers’ in the memo line. Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion Training Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion Training: Jesus said, “Give them some food yourselves.” (Mark 6:37) He took what little food they had, blessed it, broke it, and gave it to the disciples. Come and be enlightened regarding the newest guidelines of the church in reference to this important ministry. All new EMS and those continuing in this ministry should sign-up for either Monday, Feb. 22 or Wednesday, Feb. 24. Training will be from 6:30 – 8:30PM and the sign-up sheets will be in the Sacristy now through Feb. 14. Spiritual Direction Institute at The Well 2010-12 Information Meeting Sunday, March 7th, at 2PM at The Well Retreat Center. Do you want a deeper relationship with God? Are you discerning life’s direction and meaning? Do you want to understand yourself and help others? Do you have a prayer life outside of Church? Are you hungering for spiritual growth? Come join us and grow in holiness and wholeness. This is a 2-year course meeting the first Saturday of each month, for two years. No classes during summer months. Annual Diocesan Haiti Gathering Saturday, March 20th, at St. Thomas Aquinas in Charlottesville, from 8:45AM-4PM. All those involved in Haiti Twinning or interested in Haiti are welcome to join in a day of celebration, education and networking. This year’s focus is “Haiti Solidarity – After the Earthquake: Our Stories, our Struggles and Our Search for Solutions.” The registration is $20 (which includes continental breakfast, lunch and handouts.
